South African singer-songwriter and renowned live-loop artist Tanner Wareham has released the official music video for his latest single, “MAIA”, a vibrant Afro-dance anthem with deep spiritual undercurrents and uplifting grooves that showcase his unique fusion of genre, style, and message.
The video, shot on the scenic cliffs of Monteseel, just outside Tanner’s hometown of Hillcrest, captures the natural beauty of South Africa and the spiritual essence of the song. Set against a backdrop of sweeping landscapes at golden hour, the video is a visual extension of the song’s central themes: wonder, submission to the greatness of God, and the joy of salvation.
“This is where I feel most inspired, performing live, surrounded by creation,” says Tanner. “Monteseel was the perfect place to reflect what this song is about: the greatness of God, and the joy that comes from recognizing that.”
Filmed and edited by Stephen Michael Photography, the video features Tanner performing the song live as he would on stage—looping, layering, and building a full-band sound as a solo artist. This raw, dynamic approach has become his trademark, drawing audiences across South Africa, the UK, and neighbouring African countries.

“MAIA” began as a collaboration with UK-based artist Reece Berry, who laid down the foundation with a rhythmic house beat and piano progression. Tanner layered his distinctive melodic improvisations and enriched the track with tribal choral chants, African percussion, and uplifting production. Lyrically, the song strikes a balance between reverence and celebration—offering both a spiritual message and a beat-driven groove that uplifts and energizes.
