South African rock and roll firebrand Keanan Eksteen returns with his electrifying new single “Risk It All”, a hard-hitting, unapologetic track that captures the thrill of ambition, desire, and downfall. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Since emerging in 2021, Keanan Eksteen and his band have carved their place in the modern rock landscape with their dynamic blend of vintage flair and contemporary edge. Known for their explosive performances both locally and abroad, the Cape Town-based group has quickly gained recognition for their bold sound and unfiltered energy — a spirit perfectly encapsulated in Risk It All.
The song’s spark came from a guitar riff sent to Keanan by collaborator Armand de Vries (ADV). “Off the bat I was sold,” says Keanan. “I’d always longed for a song that’s in your face, unapologetic, and full of attitude — and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved with Risk It All. Lyrically, it’s about having it all, flying too close to the sun, and the human ignorance of thinking we’ll never fall or burn. But it’s also a two-way street — the observer and the observed. Sometimes we chase what we can’t have, and those who have it all don’t want what they don’t think they need.”
Produced by Jeremy Farber, the song’s final form came together almost effortlessly. “I was immediately drawn to the verse riff that Keanan and Armand sent through,” Farber explains. “The track already had so much energy before we even added anything. With just a few arrangement tweaks and subtle production enhancements, it came together really quickly. I think our audience is going to respond to this one on the dance floor — it’s got that irresistible, driving energy.”
Following a string of chart-topping releases and acclaimed tours across South Africa and Europe, Risk It All marks another milestone for Keanan Eksteen — an artist unafraid to evolve, push limits, and keep rock and roll alive and kicking.
