2012 has been an incredible year for Laurie Levine. Her latest album “Six Winters” has received great praise from some of SA’s most revered journalists, Dan Roberts won the SAMA for “Best Producer” for his work on “Six Winters” and now Levine’s been signed to one of the top booking agents in the UK. Joining Bob Paterson‘s agency BPA live, Levine is due to release her “Six Winters” album in the UK in November and set off on for her first-ever UK tour.
BPA Live was formed by Bob Paterson in 2005 and the agency now boasts a roster of over forty artists including Tom Russell, Matt Andersen, Brooks Williams, The Wailin’ Jennys, Sam Baker, Otis Gibbs and Blue Rodeo. The agency continues to grow, now working with artists from varying genres including blues and folk alongside the original Americana acts. (http://www.bpa-live.com/)
Bob Paterson was introduced to Levine’s music through Martin Elbourne, former manager for The Smiths and New Order and Director of the much esteemed MAMA group (including HMV live, Mean Fiddler, The Great Escape and more). When asked what Elbourne thought of Levine after seeing her live at the Music Network Showcase in Johannesburg in 2011, he simply says: “One of the best Americana artists I’ve seen live in quite a while.” Which also proves why it only took Martin 2 weeks of mailing booking agents in the UK about Levine, before Bob Paterson jumped at the chance to work with her.
Laurie Levine’s UK tour dates will be announced very soon and include shows in London, Bristol, Norwich, Brighton, Barnsley, Whistable, Elloughton and Warwick. Keep an eye out for the dates in the local and international press. Her incredible musical journey has only just begun.
