David Beretta Owens made his debut into the South African music scene in the 90’s as frontman for the much-loved rock outfit Lithium. When the members of Lithium decided to explore different music avenues in 1999, Owens went on his own musical journey that saw him explore many genres, styles and guises.
One of his biggest successes during this time was melodic rock outfit N8ive, a group that quickly impressed with philosophical lyrics and catchy, intriguing songs. N8ive’s collaboration with the hit spawning hip-hop outfit Skwatta Kamp on the album Mkuku Funkshin was one of the first hip-hop/rock collaborations the country South Africa had ever seen. Now, Owens has seized the opportunity to put together his long awaited solo debut, teaming up with SAMA Award-winning producer Theo Crous (The Parlotones, Prime Circle and more) on which he reveals his talent and versatility as well as strong rock roots with tender hints of pop and folk sensibility.
His solo debut ‘The Order of Things’ will appeal to all manner of people, no matter their age, culture or musical preference.
