Crimson House frontman, Riaan Smit, has embarked in yet another powerful and mysterious musical project. “Just Dreaming” is the first of many releases by Sandman and features Smit in the awe inspiring landscapes of his home country, Namibia.
“I wrote this song when I was 15 years old just before I left Namibia. After recording it with Jo Ellis I knew the only way I could film a video for it was where I had written it. In my beautiful homeland of Namibia which is a natural dream scape.”
The video was shot on location in Sossosvlei, Moon Valley near Swakopmund and his home of homes Langstrand. “Just Dreaming” was directed, edited and shot by Endemic Productions ( Liberty Lister Verbaan and Laurent Hesemans). The team made a 1500km trek over 3 days to capture breathtaking scenes from all over the Namib desert.
“This video captures just the tip of the sand dune of the beauty that Namibia has to offer. These deserts and their fragile ecosystems need to be preserved, these are not barren waste lands, this is an ancient land which plays a very important role in our world.”
Lucy Kruger lends her angelic voice to this project and Jess van der Merwe adds to the magic on the saxophone.
