Listen to the new single:
2012 marks the release of Arno Carstens’ 4th solo album. This has been a milestone year for Carstens. After nine albums (5 full length Springbok Nude Girls, 1 Bhelltower and 3 solo) and almost two decades with Sony Music, Arno will release this landmark tenth studio album independently, without the support of the major record label that had been his career companion thus far. The pair parted amicably last year.
The as yet untitled album was written in part in New York, London, Johannesburg and Cape Town and is being produced by Arno and Brendan Jury. It will be released in the 3rd quarter of 2012.
The first single, ‘Two Dogs’ is scheduled for release on the 26th June. “I wrote ‘Two Dogs’ in Johannesburg last year. I was on tour with Springbok Nude Girls at the time, we had just gotten back to SA from London, recording and touring ‘Apes with Shades’. ‘Two Dogs’, and the whole album in fact, deals with the beauty and intricacies of life; triumphs of spirit and turbulence of everyday living” says Carstens.
It’s been a busy year for Arno. After writing, recording and touring with The Nude Girls (http://www.nudegirls.co.za/) Arno set aside some time to focus on his first solo art exhibition, “Arno Plus and The Blind Tiger Sessions” (http://arnocarstensfineart.com/), a notable success that took place in Cape Town earlier this year and that will travel to Johannesburg towards the end of 2012. These collaborative sessions, which involved working with a variety of artists in visual and audio fields, included the successful single collaboration with DJ Skazi on the nationally acclaimed track “Down To Eden”
A busy year that is about to get busier – Arno is currently in studio finishing his 4th solo album. To herald the release of the first single off his forthcoming album, Arno Carstens and his band will be embarking on a nation wide theatre tour, showcasing both new material and the hits from both his solo career and as lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls.
